Pathways to Work is designed to help people with a disability claiming incapacity or sickness benefits. It provides support to help you move in to work or self employment.

A user-friendly programme run at convenient locations and you can dip in and out as you please.
Pathways to Work (Self Employment) offers you support from a highly skilled Business Adviser who, through regular contact will work with you to develop a personalised action plan and help you achieve your self-employment goals.
Awareness
Either in a small group or one-to-one with a trained InBiz business adviser, you'll learn about the benefits or pitfalls of becoming self employed. In a confidential discussion about your business idea, you and your business consultant will start planning, taking into account your experience and skills. Together you’ll look at areas where you might need help such as funding or extra training.
Planning and Preparation
By getting the basics right you'll be in a better position to start trading and succeed. Working closely with your business adviser you will produce a plan suited to your idea and your circumstances including cash flow projections.
Getting Starting
Once you have decided to start, you'll be able to 'test trade' your business for a period agreed with your business adviser without having to give up benefits or allowances.
Survival and Support
Running your own business is rewarding but can involve facing challenges. InBiz offer the support of a business adviser long after the programme has finished. In some areas, InBiz operate ongoing programmes to assist you further.
There is also A Return to Work Credit of £40 weekly paid for 52 weeks to Incapacity Benefit customers who start work and earn less than £15,000 p.a.
