The services were free and available to anyone living in Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire or the Isle of Wight and claiming an incapacity benefit. Such benefits include Incapacity Benefit (IB), Severe Disability Allowance (SDA), Income Support (IS) claimed by reason of sickness or disability and certain other disability benefits.

Working as a specialist sub contractor to Kennedy Scott InBiz delivered a package of innovative and individually tailored support options to help incapacity benefit claimants gain the confidence they needed to return to work or Self Employment.

The Confidence to Work Programme

Awareness
Delivered on a one-to-one basis by trained InBiz business consultants, clients learnt about the benefits or pitfalls of becoming self employed. In a confidential discussion about their business idea the business consultant started them planning but also took into account their experience and skills and looked at areas where they might have needed help such as funding or extra training.

Planning
Delivered on a one-to-one basis over a four week period, and working closely with their business consultant clients were encouraged to produce a plan suited to their idea and individual circumstances, this also included cash-flow projections and marketing.

Getting Starting
Once the clients had completed their planning they were able to ‘test trade’ their business for a period agreed with their business consultant without having to give up benefits or allowances.
