Home Enterprise Gets a Kick Start in Liverpool
Enterprise specialists hold entrepreneur networking event at Everton Football Club
InBiz, a national organisation specialising in the promotion and development of self employment and entrepreneurship, celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week with a networking event on ‘Home Enterprise’ on 19th November 2010 at Everton Football Club. The lunchtime event featured a showcase of business set up by individuals who have received InBiz support, including bespoke jewellery, cupcakes and fitness consultants. The focus of the event was to promote the opportunities and benefits around home-based self employment. InBiz has helped 942 new businesses launch in the North in the last 12 months. InBiz services are government funded, and as such are free to take part in.
Home enterprise offers people who are unemployed a unique opportunity to enter into employment at a pace which suits them, allowing them to choose their hours to fit around other responsibilities such as childcare, or affords them the flexibility needed to work around management of a health condition.
Tracey Derry, National Enterprise Lead, said, “InBiz helps give people the business knowledge they need to turn a good business idea into reality. We specialise in helping the unemployed into self employment, and work with individuals to help them overcome barriers that may have prevented them from looking into self employment previously.
“This event is focused on home enterprise, which can be the perfect solution for people who have other compounding issues including childcare, caring for elderly relatives or other family commitments. Home enterprise also offers the opportunity to start a business for those in part time work, allowing them flexibility to work around their work shifts.
“Home enterprise often, but by no means exclusively, appeals to women, as many of the skills of running a business are associated with running a family home, including budgeting, multi tasking, prioritising and working to deadlines. With the right support, home- based enterprise can be the perfect solution for many women trying to balance their work and home lives.
“We have seen some great, inspirational businesses come from Liverpool and look forward to helping more in the future.”
