Samuel, 23, sadly lost all sight in his right eye at the age of 17. However, this has not defeated him, at the age of 21 Samuel had completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering. Despite being qualified, Samuel struggled to find suitable employment to put his skills to use, so he decided that self employment would be his best option. He liked the thought of being his own boss and looked on it as a challenge with rewarding financial gains.
Using his skills, he thought of starting a business in electrical testing. He provides electrical services to customers, including rewiring, emergency callouts, fault finding, additions/alterations, fuse board changes, testing and inspection.
InBiz helped Samuel to get started with how to market his business and supported him through all steps he needed to take to get his own business up and running. Through the process of his business he found compiling business cards, invoices and finding new customers most challenging.
Samuel feels this business has made a difference to his life. Although there has been a reduction in his income compared to if he was working full time, he enjoys the freedom and feels that he is more educated in business skills. He hopes to continue growing his business, eventually earning a huge profit.
"I have enjoyed the challenge of starting my own business, InBiz has given me lots of advice and has been a great help"
