Ross (London)

Ross, 33, struggled to find work due to the lack of demand, so he decided to start a company with people in the same situation as himself.

Ross created a business called Motherlode, a brand studio and Film and Animation Company that helps companies market their services online or in new media. Motherlode find ways of presenting a company’s services, products and events by engaging short attention spans with authentic stories. They provide advice and services on how to best engage with customers or employees, then create the product, content and the platform to facilitate conversation and learning.

InBiz supported Ross’ ideas and allowed the time and space to organically grow his business. InBiz was there to offer advice and guidance to help Ross in any part of his business.

Motherlode has now been running for four years, after a tricky initial set up running into problems with funding, studio space and hiring the right people, Motherlode are now beginning to do well. Ross feels the sense of process, achievement and momentum has finally been worth it.

Starting his own business has changed Ross' life. He plans to continue growing his business through achieving bigger clients and profit margins and developing his staff.

"It has given me a sense of purpose and autonomy, making a job has beaten taking a job."
