Louise from Gateshead enjoyed her previous role as a Child Minder. Unfortunately following an operation on her foot Louise was unable to continue with child minding and became unemployed for a period of time.
Her biggest barrier was her confidence when she joined InBiz. Although Louise had an idea of what she wanted to do, she was not sure on how to go about it. Her passion was in art and baking, and combining these she came up with 'Popits Cake Pops' novelty cakes designed to match any theme or event. With the help of InBiz Business Adviser she soon understood all the aspects of starting a business and she received support through every stage of planning, raising finance, sales and marketing.
As soon as Louise started marketing 'Popits Cake Pops' through business cards and leaflets she was flooded with orders. She also targeted high profile businesses as well as hand delivering bespoke promotional packs of cake pops bearing respective company logos. Popits Cake Pops was mentioned on Capital Radio (formerly known as Galaxy Radio), and was well received by the cast of the TV soap, Emmerdale.
The most enjoyable part for Louise was setting up her own business and the flexibility allowing her to work around her family. Louise hopes in a year's time she will continue to contribute her abilities in a challenging and rewarding environment. Her goal is to be an expert in her field and make her company a household name.
"I feel a real sense of accomplishment. I am able to stay at home with my family whilst following my dreams"
