Linda, 53, had worked for six years as an accountant in a construction firm, during which time becoming self employed was an idea that appealed to her.
When she lost her job, she took on a number of temporary jobs but she realised that becoming self employed was a dream she wanted to pursue, and turned to InBiz for help to start her own business.
Linda received valuable guidance from her InBiz adviser, Dave, who guided her though various aspects of starting a business, including marketing and financial support available. Drawing on her past experience, Linda has launched a business as a bookkeeper, specialising in sole trader accounts. She is able to advise on areas of personal taxes and VAT, passing her customers onto an accountant if necessary.
The most challenging part she found was marketing, as she had little experience with it, but she concentrated on this area and has since been able to introduce various marketing strategies to the business. Over the next year, she is hoping to gradually expand the business, taking on more clients and employing staff. She said "InBiz has been of great support to me, guiding me through the setup and marketing of the business."
